Introduction
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is considering the introduction of an experimental 20mph speed limit zone in Beeford. This proposal is part of our ongoing commitment to improving road safety and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Before making any decisions, we are keen to hear your views on this proposal.
Why a 20mph Zone?
The aim of a 20 mph zone is to:
- Improve road safety: Reduce the number and severity of accidents, particularly those involving vulnerable road users such as children, pedestrians, and cyclists.
- Enhance community well-being: Create a safer, more pleasant environment for everyone, encouraging more walking and cycling.
- Reduce traffic noise: Lower vehicle speeds can contribute to a quieter and more peaceful neighbourhood.
What Does This Mean for You?
If the 20mph zone is implemented:
- The speed limit within a designated area (covering most or parts of Beeford) would be reduced to 20mph.
- Signage and road markings would be installed to inform and remind drivers of the new speed limit.
